Gabrielle's story

Gabrielle Wheddon is an Audit Manager in our Wellington office.

Gabrielle has been making the most of easy access to the outdoors."Since I moved to New Zealand in 2011, I’ve done so many things that I wouldn't have done in the UK. I’ve taken weekend ski trips on a live volcano, kayaked in Milford Sound, walked the Tongariro Crossing, and cycled the Queen Charlotte track. I’ve been on night-time trips to spot glow worms and taken many other walking and cycle trips within the Wellington region.

"Some things I could have done in the UK, but the scenery is better here - like taking a glider flight, visiting vineyards, and camping.

"I’ve made a real effort to explore New Zealand, and I do a lot more outdoor activities now.

"The friendliness of the people in New Zealand creates a positive atmosphere. It's great to work in a small office so you get to know everyone. There really is an open-door policy and everyone is very approachable.

"Wellington is a compact city, yet it caters to a huge variety of activities and interests. I was surprised by just how far away you feel here in New Zealand. I didn’t expect to feel it so much. However, Skype calls and Facetime help to keep in touch with family and friends."
